Patina Maldives is newly opened in 2021, as part of the Capella group, this is also the very first Patina property that’s being launched. Located approximately 50 minutes by speedboat from Male International Airport, Patina Maldives is part of a group of cluster islands, including Capella (opening in 2023), and Ritz Carlton Maldives, they form the Fari Islands archipelago. All 3 of these island resorts are located within the same lagoon, and guests can visit other islands within the group to enjoy some of their restaurant outlets.

Accommodations + Facilities
Designed by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, Patina Maldives offers over 90 villas ranging from one bedroom - three bedroom villas. To me, the island concept is based around modern luxury and minimalistic architecture, most of all the villas and structures are rectangular - box like. When entering the room, all the curtains and black out shades are all automated. The living space and bedroom are all in the same large open space, with glass panels all around allowing ample sunlight to come into the room. The balcony sliding door also opens almost all the way, making the entire space feel connected and even larger when opened up!

One thing I wanted to highlight - Patina Maldives is in the process of installing solar panels on the roof of all their buildings. Most of the water villas already have solar panels installed on the top, fully utilizing the space and beautifully integrated into the architecture. At this early stage, these solar panels are able to supply 20% of the island’s electricity consumption, and their target is to get to at least 50%!

Patina is part of the Fari Islands archipelago, and it is also the largest island among the group. Patina Maldives is the hub of the 3 islands with Fari Marina Village, a gathering space with a marina allowing over 20 boats and yachts to dock, shops, restaurants, Fari beach club, and also 20 Fari Studios. Fari Studios are smaller bedrooms for travelers who are visiting on a yacht/cruise and docking at the Marina.

Restaurants
Patina definitely have some of the best restaurants in the Maldives, at the moment there are 7 different types of cuisines to choose from. And guests can also visit Ritz Carlton and Capella in the future to try out some of their dining outlets.

  • Roots, a plant based dining experience, serving many home grown vegetables from the island organic garden.

  • Kōen, fusion restaurant, mixing Japanese and Nordic cuisine.

  • Barsa, set menu, and focuses on grilled dishes from Southern America.

  • Wok Soceity, Asian restaurant serving authentic Chinese food and draft beer.

  • Helios, the sunset restaurant and bar, serves Mediterranean cuisine.

  • Gogo Burgers, a tuk tuk food truck that’s in the heart of Fari Marina Village, serving sizzling grilled burgers and lobster roll!
